Thanks to their rustic cut and crispy texture, Rusty fries are the ideal match for the rich flavour of the steak.
Ingredients
1 serving
For the steak and the side
- 1 pack of Rusty Steakhouse Fries
- 1 beef steak (250–300 g)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 20 g butter
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 sprig of rosemary
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
For the peppercorn sauce
- 1 teaspoon peppercorns
- 100 ml cooking cream
- 30 ml cognac (optional)
Preparation
-
Cook the fries
Cook the Rusty Steakhouse Fries according to the instructions on the packaging, until golden, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
-
Cook the steak
Take the steak out of the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking. Pat it dry with a paper towel, then season it generously with salt and pepper.
Heat a pan thoroughly and add the olive oil. Cook the steak for 2–4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the meat and how well done you want it.
Add the butter, garlic and rosemary to the pan, then baste the steak with the flavoured butter for 1–2 minutes. Finally, let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing it.
-
Make the peppercorn sauce
Add the peppercorns to the same pan and, if you like, pour in the cognac. Let the alcohol evaporate, then stir in the cooking cream. Simmer over low heat for 3–4 minutes, until the sauce turns creamy.
-
Serve
Place the steak on a plate next to a generous portion of Rusty Steakhouse Fries, then pour the peppercorn sauce over the meat or serve it on the side.
Tips for a perfect result
- Let the steak come to room temperature before cooking.
- Do not turn the meat too often; a well browned crust brings more flavour.
- After cooking, let the steak rest for a few minutes so it stays juicy.
- For a fresh touch, serve it with a green salad or grilled vegetables.
